History/Overview Did you know the YMCA of Greater Louisville was established in 1853 and was the tenth YMCA organized in the United States? Today the YMCA of Greater Louisville has thirteen branches offering many membership and program opportunities.
Our YMCA families have the opportunity to reach their full potential in spirit, mind and body by taking advantage of our state-of-the-art facilities. These facilities include swimming, group fitness/swim classes, spacious gymnasiums, racquetball courts, running tracks, children adventure centers, personal fitness instruction and wellness centers complete with cardiovascular and strength training equipment.
Program Philosophy The YMCA of Greater Louisville also has a strong program philosophy . . . “Athletes First, Winning Second.” This philosophy is designed for all participants to grow in the areas of sportsmanship, physical fitness, skill development, self-control and team effort.
Child Care The largest provider of child care in the state of Kentucky, the YMCA also serves over 6,500 children a day, both in infant, toddler, preschool and school-age child care. Busy parents can go to work knowing that their child is safe, secure and involved in structured activities.
